With its compact and lightweight chassis, the Aprilia RS 457 is one of the most fun to ride sports bikes on the market. It is super-agile and easier to handle than its bigger sibling, the RS 660, yet there is still enough power for riding at maximum speeds.

Its 457cc parallel twin engine is 6 kg lighter than the RS660’s one, but the horsepower has also been lowered to just 47 bhp. This might not seem like that much power compared to some other motorcycles in the category, but it makes the bike cheaper and fully A2 legal.

The Aprilia RS 660 is a cross between a supersport bike and a regular sport bike such as the Honda CBR650R or Kawasaki Ninja 650. It is relatively cheap compared to most other supersport bikes, which makes it more accessible to beginner riders.

The bike offers plenty of power for riding at maximum speeds, but is very easy to handle. Its inline two cylinder engine generates around 100 horsepower or 74kW, which exceeds the A2 licence limit. However, there is a 70kW A2-friendly version available that can be factory restricted to 35kW.

Please note that the below specifications are for the regular non-A2-compliant Aprilia RS 660 model, rather than the 35kW / 70kW A2-compliant one.

Bimota is a very special motorcycle manufacturer. Their motorcycles are competitive for track racing, however they are not that practical for everyday use. The DB5 is equipped with an older v-twin engine made by Ducati. It is not as powerful as some of the top-of the line engines, but it offers very good acceleration and a lot of torque at low revs.

The bike is extremely lightweight and the riding quality is on a very high level. It is equipped with the finest brakes and suspension available on the market. Unfortunately, due to its bleeding-edge technology, the Bimota DB5 is a very expensive motorcycle.

If you are looking for a truly unique A2-friendly sport bike and you don’t care about its high price tag, then the Bimota DB5 might be the one you are looking for.

Middleweight sport-tourers are not very common and the BMW F800GT is one of the very few A2 legal motorcycles available in this category. Its parallel twin engine is smooth at all speeds and the bike handles really well. It has very good fuel economy and offers enough power for long-distance commuting.

The bike offers premium build quality for a reasonable price, but there are not that many features in the standard version.

The BMW F800GT comes equipped with a large windshield and ABS. Traction control, panniers and electronic suspension are not included in the standard version and you will have to pay extra money for them.
